What a Perth funeral costs at each level
Funeral prices in Perth vary mostly on one thing: whether there is a service, and where it is held. These are the Gift of Grace Funerals package prices for 2026, all GST inclusive.
| Type of funeral | Gift of Grace package | Price (2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Unattended (direct) cremation, no service | Essential Grace | $3,800 |
| Cremation with a 90 minute chapel service at Fremantle, Karrakatta or Pinnaroo | Amazing Grace | $9,900 |
| Graveside burial service (grave purchased separately) | Forever Grace | $11,500 |
| Church service followed by cremation | Divine Grace | $12,500 |
The Essential Grace price includes the transfer, mortuary care, all paperwork and permits, the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board cremation fee, an eco-friendly coffin, death registration, one death certificate and a temporary urn. The Amazing Grace price adds chapel hire, a celebrant, a choice of eleven coffins, five floral arrangements, a photo tribute, a notice in The West Australian, a hearse, live streaming and a fully staffed service.
What makes the price go up or down
Three choices drive most of the difference between a $4,000 funeral and a $15,000 one in Perth.
Cremation or burial. Cremation is cheaper because there is no grave to buy. In the 2025/26 fee year a weekday cremation at a Metropolitan Cemeteries Board crematorium costs around $1,350, while a new grave at Fremantle, Karrakatta, Pinnaroo or Rockingham typically costs from about $2,700 for the grant of right of burial plus roughly $1,700 for the interment, before any headstone.
Where and when the service is held. A weekday chapel service is the most economical. Weekend and public holiday services attract cemetery surcharges, and church venues have their own clergy and hire fees.
Personal choices. Coffin selection, flowers, catering, a vocalist, viewing, embalming, memorial books and printed orders of service all add to the total. Our packages list exactly what is included so there are no surprises.
What is not usually included in a Perth funeral quote
Whoever you use, check the quote for these third party items: the grave (for burials), weekend surcharges, headstones and memorial plaques, church fees, catering and wake venue hire, and extra death certificates. Gift of Grace shows third party costs clearly and includes the cemetery cremation fee in every cremation package.
Is there help paying for a funeral in WA?
Yes. The estate of the person who has died can usually pay funeral expenses before other debts, and banks will generally release funds from the deceased’s account directly to the funeral director on presentation of the invoice. Some families are eligible for a Services Australia bereavement payment, and Western Australia’s Department of Communities can assist with funeral costs in cases of genuine hardship. We can talk you through the options during your arrangement meeting.
